  1. Short: Extract and install archives using drag 'n' drop

  8. A small program that allows the user to extract and install archived
  9. distributions (e.g. Aminet downloads) quickly and with the minimum of
  10. fuss.
  11.  
  12. Opens as an appicon on Workbench. The user can either drag and drop an
  13. archive onto the icon or doubleclick it to bring up a file requester for
  14. archive selection. After selecting a temporary path, the archive is
  15. extracted and the resulting files are scanned for an Installer script.
  16. If one is found, Installer is automatically loaded and installation proceeds
  17. as normal. If no script is found the user is given the option to move the
  18. files to a permanent location. All temporary files are deleted once the
  19. process is over.

  21. Currently supports only LHA archives. If any interest is shown I can modify
  22. the code to support other compression types.

  24. ArcInstall is a stand alone program. It is also to appear as a function in
  25. the forthcoming release of Formation v2.0, the recently released virtual
  26. directory manager by the same author. Look in 'util/wb' for the current
  27. release.
